LIQUEUR

The five liqueurs of VIA PARINI: A Sicilian Festival of tastes, colours, and flavours.

The origin of the liqueur production lies in the medieval Italy in the monasteries of the country. There the distillation was optimized and in the whole monks, alchemists and apothecaries made the first delicious liqueurs according to well protected secret recipes. But only when the sugar (through the discovery of beet sugar) was affordable to a wide range, the liqueurs entered the winning lane.

Their diverse, clear colours, their bewitching flavours and of course their special sweetness are the key factors for their worldwide success. For our five different, absolute high-quality liqueurs, produced in handcraft, we have selected five of the best fruits and nuts of Sicily: Lemons and oranges from the base of the Etna, pistachios from Bronte, almonds from Avola, and melons from Ispica from the Province of Ragusa.

LIQUORE DI LIMONE

Nonna Vita says:

„As a culmination of a multi-course menu, I serve the Limoncello with a lot of ice, as a „Digestive on the rocks “. But also as an Apéro-Cocktail with a tangy Prosecco and a stripe of lemon rind, the liqueur bewitches a summer evening. And what about a Lemon-Limoncello-Soufflé or a Limoncello-Flan with raspberries?“

The Production:

Our lemon liqueur is not only a further Limoncello. He does not only contain the cautious, centuries-old art of distillation, but also the world’s best lemons, grown on the fertile volcanic soil of the Etna. Their green skins are pickled in 95 % alcohol for about four weeks, before a mixture of water and sugar is added. After a further week, the liqueur gets filtered and filled in bottles.

The Taste:
Served ice-cold – the very best is to use a refrigerated glass as well – this Limoncello tastes delightfully refreshing. The full-bodied citrus character develops in the palate in such an eruptive way as the volcano, where they ripened.

LIQUORE ALL’ARANCIA

Nonna Vita says:

„When I spoil myself with a glass of orange liqueur as a digestive, then I drink it pure with only one single ice cube. But it is perfect for mixing cocktails and long drinks as well. And in the kitchen, it is indispensable: Orange liqueur refines cakes, desserts, crêpes, and everything else, the heart longs for.“

The Production:
Every orange liqueur has its own secret recipe. The secret of our Liquore all‘ Arancia are the blood oranges Navelina, which grow at the foot of the Etna. Their skins are pickled in 95 % alcohol for about four weeks in a little family manufactory, before a mixture of water and sugar is added. After a further week, the liqueur gets filtered and filled in bottles.

The Taste:

This liqueur is a symphony, composed for your palate: A bitter-sweet melody, develops through the fruity tones of the Navelina-Oranges and lingers by its freshness for a long time.

LIQUORE AL MELONE

Nonna Vita says:

„This melon liqueur is like my secret weapon for creative desserts, that bewitch the senses. At this point I do not want to tell you the exact secrets. I just provide you with their names: melon sorbet, yogurt tart with melons, melon mousse with blueberries and frozen melon gelatine. After hearing this, you almost forget, that you can enjoy the liqueur just with an ice cube“

Produktion:

Melons from Sicily enjoy a good reputation in the whole wide world. The magnificent fruits for our Liquore al Melone derive from the southern Sicilian Ispica (Province of Ragusa). They are pickled in 95 % alcohol for about four weeks, before a mixture of milk and sugar is added. In the following step, it gets refined with sunflower oil, cocoa butter, vanilla, and some carob flour. After a further week, the liqueur gets filtered and filled in bottles.

The Taste:

The taste of the fully ripe melons makes our Liquore al Melone very fruity and seductive in its sweetness. After being lightly cooled, it develops all its freshness and its flavour. It is like the sun of Sicily was united in a mouthful of liqueur.

LIQUORE DI MANDORLE

Nonna Vita says:

„There is hardly no dessert, whose taste does not get intensified and refined by the almond liqueur. I am talking especially about Tiramisu. But also with a Glace, a piece of chocolate or as a shade of a pie this liqueur can be used. Combined with some lemon juice or in combination with whiskey, the almond liqueur becomes the secret cocktail-star. And what do you think about an Italian café with some cream and a shot of Liquore di Mandorle?“

The Production:

Almonds from Avola, for example flat, reddish Pizzuta, are one of the favourite almonds of the whole wide world. It is clear, that local producers of liqueur dedicate a lot of time to develop the best production process, to ban the taste and the character of these almonds in a bottle. They are pickled in 95 % alcohol for about four weeks, before a mixture of milk and sugar is added. In the following step, it gets refined with sunflower oil, cocoa butter, vanilla, and some carob flour. After a further week, the liqueur gets filtered and filled in bottles.

The Taste:
Its intense, unique flavour and its full, lovely taste make this almond liqueur not only for connoisseurs irresistible. Because its sweet and fruity character will spoil you with warmth from the inside.

LIQUORE AL PISTACCHIO

Nonna Vita says:

„Liquore al Pistacchio tastes great with one or two ice cubes on the couch. Furthermore, it is excellent to garnish a lot of desserts or as the aromatic culmination of a vanilla-glace.“

The Production:

The clear, intense taste of the pistachios from Bronte in the Province of Catania is well known beyond the borders of Sicily. That is why it is obvious to develop the idea, to produce a liqueur out of the natural cores. The pistachios are pickled in 95 % alcohol for about four weeks, before a mixture of milk and sugar is added. In the following step, it gets refined with sunflower oil, cocoa butter, vanilla, and some carob flour. After a further week, the liqueur gets filtered and filled in bottles.

The Taste:
In this liqueur, you find the full spectre of flavours of the pistachio from Bronte. Pure, honest, and high-prof alcohol.
